THE BASICS

What is a vinyl “finish,” and why does it matter?

A vinyl finish is the outer layer that gives your wrap its texture, sheen, and overall vibe. Think of it as the final detail that transforms a wrap from good to dialed. The finish you choose changes how your colors pop, how light hits your machine, and ultimately how your machine stands out on the snow, dirt, or trail.

How does the finish affect the overall look and feel of a wrap?

The finish defines your wrap’s personality. Gloss gives off a bright, polished, high-energy look. Matte delivers a stealthy, clean aesthetic with no reflections. Chrome and holographic finishes crank the volume with mirror-like shine or shifting color effects that hit different under the lights. Your finish choice can make your wrap look race-ready, factory clean, or straight-up custom showpiece.

Do different finishes change how durable or protective the wrap is?

All Deviant Ink wraps use the same premium, powersports-grade base vinyl designed to handle snow, mud, and UV exposure. Durability is consistent across every finish, but some have small performance perks. For example, matte hides scratches and scuffs a little better, while gloss is easier to wipe clean. Every finish still adds that protective barrier that keeps your plastics looking fresh for seasons to come.

Understanding the Options

Not all finishes are created equal. Each one has its own personality, feel, and best-use scenario. Here’s how they stack up so you can lock in the look that fits your ride and your style.

Matte Finish

Matte gives your wrap a clean, flat look with zero shine or reflection. It’s stealthy, modern, and understated—perfect if you want a low-key, factory feel. Matte hides scratches well and looks great in almost any light.

Best for: Riders who want a smooth, no-flash finish that looks tough and refined.

Gloss Finish

Gloss is the classic. It’s still our #1 best selling vinyl finish. It’s bright, shiny, and makes your colors pop like candy. If you want your sled or SxS to stand out in the lot or on the mountain, gloss is your go-to.

Best for: Anyone who wants bold color, depth, and a clean, polished look.

Sparkle Flake Gloss

All the vibrancy of a gloss wrap, but with a layer of fine colorful/rainbow flake that catches and reflects light in motion. Under the sun, it glows with subtle sparkle that adds just the right amount of flair.

Deviant Ink’s sparkle flake features the HIGHEST concentrate of premium flake in the industry.

Note: Sparkle flake can only be applied to a gloss finish – standard gloss, chrome gloss, holographic gloss.

Best for: Riders who want that premium touch and like their wrap to shimmer under the light.

GOLD Flake Gloss

Similar to Sparkle Flake, but with a golden metallic tone woven throughout. It adds warmth and luxury, especially on darker or more neutral designs.

Deviant Ink’s gold flake features the HIGHEST concentrate of premium flake in the industry.

Note: Gold flake can only be applied to a gloss finish – standard gloss, chrome gloss, holographic gloss.

Best for: Builds that lean into gold, bronze, or earth-tone accents and want that high-end finish.

SILVER Flake Gloss

Silver Flake delivers the same bold shine as our standard gloss but with a layer of metallic silver sparkle woven throughout. It catches the light with a clean, crisp glimmer that adds depth without overpowering your design. Under sunlight or shop lights, it gives off that premium metallic pop.

Deviant Ink’s silver flake features the HIGHEST concentrate of premium flake in the industry.

Note: Silver flake can only be applied to a gloss finish – standard gloss, chrome gloss, holographic gloss.

Best for: Riders who want a flashy, high-end look with a cooler tone that pairs perfectly with blues, grays, and darker colorways.

Chrome Gloss

Chrome finish is pure mirror shine. It reflects its surroundings, amplifies your design, and turns heads everywhere you go. The surface looks like polished metal and is all about flash and performance style.

Best for: Show builds, constant head turnings, or anyone who wants to be seen from space. 🙂

Holographic Gloss

Holographic gloss explodes with shifting color under light, giving you a multi-color iridescent effect that constantly changes with your angle. Think liquid rainbow vibes that never look the same twice.

Best for: Riders who want loud, next-level, look-at-me designs that are anything but ordinary.

Chrome Matte

A unique hybrid that keeps the metallic feel of chrome but tones down the shine. The muted reflection gives your wrap a smooth, brushed-metal look that’s sleek and futuristic. Customers often describe chrome matte as giving off an aluminum pop can look/vibe.

Best for: Riders who want the premium metallic look without all the flash.

Holographic Matte

All the color-shifting beauty of holographic, finished with a smooth matte surface that absorbs light instead of reflecting it. The result is a kaleidoscope of shifting tones that look soft but rich.

Best for: Custom builds where you want to mix subtle texture with bold color movement but with no reflectiveness.

Rhino Guard (available soon)

Rhino Guard is built for riders who push their machines to the limit. This heavily textured, 25mil thick overlaminate adds serious traction, grip, and protection to your graphics. It’s designed to take abuse – resisting scuffs, wear, and harsh environments while adding a rugged, slip-resistant surface that performs as good as it looks.

Best for: Hardcore riders or heavy equipment operators who want maximum durability and grip for tunnels, running boards, or high-contact areas that see constant wear.
